Here's exactly what's covered, for how long, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Warranty matters more than price.
Solar is a 30-year decision. The company that installed it needs to still be around in year 25 to actually stand behind the work. That's the part most homeowners don't think about when they're comparing quotes side by side.

LONGi Panels
Residential roof installs use Hi-MO 7 500W. Farm and ground-mount installs use Hi-MO X10 650W (HPBC 2.0 cell technology). Both carry identical coverage: 25-year product warranty plus a 30-year linear performance warranty (≥87.4% output at year 30). World's largest solar manufacturer, Tier-1 Bloomberg rated.
APsystems DS3 Microinverters
Panel-level monitoring via EMA app for the life of the system. We install microinverters — never string inverters — so each panel operates independently.
EP Cube Battery

The installation warranty — the workmanship coverage on the labour itself — is the one most installers quietly shortchange. A 1-year or 2-year is common. 5 years is strong. 10 years means we stand behind what our crew did on your roof a decade later. Who does the work: Our Red Seal Master Electrician reviews the design and signs off on every install. 100% in-house crews — we never subcontract labour. Every project is signed off by a Master Electrician before Permission to Operate (PTO).
Scope: the Essential (5-year) and Premium (10-year) installation and leak-proof warranties apply to solar installations. EV charger installations carry a 1-year installation warranty, alongside the 3-year manufacturer warranty on the charger itself.

A leak-proof warranty on every roof penetration we touch — up to the life of the roof.
Every Stellar install comes with this coverage: five years on the Essential package, and the life of the roof on Premium. If a leak happens at a penetration we made, caused by our workmanship, we come back and fix it at no cost. On Premium that promise holds in year 5, year 15, year 25 — for as long as the roof lasts.
The scope is precise, and we want you to know it before you sign: this warranty covers our penetrations — not the entire roof. Two conditions protect it: leaks caused by the age or condition of your shingles are a roofing issue, not a penetration failure; and nobody other than Stellar may touch the system.
We can offer this because of three things: the product we use, the crew we train, and our track record. Our roof-penetration failure rate across 550+ installs is effectively zero. Most installers can't make this promise because they cut corners on flashing or use generic lag screws without proper sealing.

The commitment
If a leak occurs at a mounting point we installed, caused by our workmanship, one call brings us back to diagnose and repair the penetration at no cost — through year 5 on Essential, and even in year 15 or year 25 on Premium.
What's included
Every mounting point we drill, every flashing we install, every sealant we apply. Covers leaks caused by our workmanship at penetrations our crew made during the install — for five years on Essential, and for the life of the roof on Premium.
What's not
Leaks from hail, tree branches, ice dams, pre-existing damage — or shingles failing from age or poor condition, anywhere on the roof, including around our mounts. If it’s not from our work, it’s not our fix — but we’ll still come assess it for free.
The one rule
If anyone other than Stellar removes, unscrews, re-seals, or interferes with the system — panels, racking, flashing, wiring — the leak-proof and installation warranties are void on that work. Full details below.
Re-roofing later?
Need shingles replaced in year 12? Call us first. Our crew detaches and reinstalls the system around your roofer’s work — and your warranties stay intact. That’s the right way to do it.
What about the roof structurally?
For roofs older than ~15 years or showing visible wear, we recommend re-shingling before install. This is part of why we Decline ~10% of assessments — if your roof is near end-of-life, doing solar first forces an expensive re-install later when you need to re-shingle.
Our assessment always includes an honest conversation about your roof's remaining life. If we think you should re-shingle first, we'll tell you. We'd rather lose the sale than sell you something that will cost you twice.
Important distinction: the leak-proof warranty — five years on Essential, lifetime on Premium — applies to our mounting points specifically, not to the roof itself. If your shingles fail in year 20 from age, that's a roofing issue, not our penetration. Homeowner insurance handles hail, storm, and shingle failure — not us.
One rule: before anyone works near the system, call us.
Your installation warranty and leak-proof warranty cover work performed by Stellar’s crew — and only that work. We can stand behind every penetration, every wire, and every mount because our own certified people installed them. The moment someone else alters the system, we can no longer verify what’s on your roof — and the coverage on that work ends.

What voids the coverage: if another contractor, roofer, electrician, handyman — anyone other than Stellar — removes, unscrews, relocates, re-seals, or otherwise interferes with any part of the installation (panels, racking, flashing, wiring, conduit, microinverters, battery, or EV charger), the installation warranty and the leak-proof warranty are void on the affected work. Unqualified handling can also void the manufacturers’ equipment warranties.

What happens to my warranty if Stellar Upgrades closes?
Manufacturer warranties (LONGi, APsystems, EP Cube, Wallbox) are issued by the manufacturers directly and remain valid regardless of our operational status. These cover the largest dollar value of your system — panels, microinverters, battery, EV charger.
Our installation and leak-proof warranties are backed by Stellar Upgrades as the installing contractor. We've been operating since 2018 with zero plans to go anywhere — our Red Seal Master Electrician has a 30+ year career ahead of him, and we're building this company for the long run.
Does the warranty transfer if I sell my home?
Yes. Both the manufacturer warranties and our installation and leak-proof coverage transfer to the new homeowner automatically. Solar is a selling feature — studies show homes with solar sell faster and at higher prices. The warranty transferring makes it even more attractive to buyers.
The new owner should contact us after closing so we have their info on file for any future claims.
Is the warranty registered with the manufacturer automatically?
Yes. We handle all manufacturer warranty registrations as part of the install process. You don't need to fill out forms, send serial numbers, or activate anything. Everything is registered with LONGi, APsystems, EP Cube, and Wallbox within days of PTO (Permission to Operate).
What if LONGi or APsystems goes out of business?
Tier-1 manufacturers like LONGi (the world's largest solar manufacturer) and APsystems are structurally unlikely to fail within a warranty period. That said, no business is guaranteed forever. If a manufacturer exits the market, the industry norm is for a successor company to acquire warranty obligations, or for distributor-side warranty pools to continue coverage.
In the unlikely event a component fails after a manufacturer closes and no successor exists, we'd work with you on a replacement at our cost — this is part of why we only install Tier-1 brands with strong financial backing.
What's the difference between the Essential and Premium warranty packages?
The Essential package includes a 5-year installation warranty — covering all labour our electricians performed (racking, wiring, conduit, mounting, interconnect) — plus a 5-year leak-proof warranty on our roof penetrations. The Premium package extends the installation warranty to 10 years and the leak-proof warranty to the life of the roof.
Premium is available as an upgrade at quote stage — ask your Stellar consultant during the assessment.
Is the lifetime leak-proof warranty really lifetime, or is there fine print?
On the Premium package it's genuinely for the life of the roof — the Essential package carries the same coverage for five years — with one clear scope: it covers leaks caused by our roof penetrations (the holes we drill for mounting hardware and the flashing we install around them). Year 5, year 15, year 25 — same coverage.
It does not cover leaks from hail, tree strikes, ice dams — or shingles failing from age or poor condition, anywhere on the roof, including around our mounts. It covers the penetrations we made, not the entire roof. And it requires that nobody other than Stellar has touched the system: if another contractor removes or disturbs our mounts, the coverage on that work is void. If a leak happens and we can trace it to our workmanship, we fix it — period. If it’s from somewhere else, we’ll still come assess it for free.
I’m re-roofing or having other work done at my house — what should I do?

If the work involves the solar system (re-shingling is the common one), our crew detaches and reinstalls the system as a coordinated service, and every warranty stays intact.
What you should never do is let another contractor remove, unscrew, or work around the panels, racking, flashing, or wiring themselves. Work by anyone other than Stellar voids the installation warranty and the leak-proof warranty on the affected work — and can void manufacturer equipment warranties too. One phone call protects all of it.
Does hail damage count as warranty coverage?
No — hail is an act of God and falls under homeowner insurance, not manufacturer or installer warranty. The good news: most home insurance policies in Alberta automatically cover rooftop solar once it's installed. Some insurers may ask you to declare it; others include it by default.
We recommend confirming solar coverage with your insurer after install. LONGi panels are hail-tested to the IEC 61215 standard — 25 mm ice at 23 m/s (~83 km/h), tougher than most roofing materials — but severe hail can still cause damage in extreme events.
