About Stellar Upgrades

Solar isn’t a sale. It’s a 30-year promise.

Edmonton’s solar, battery & EV charger installer since 2018 — built to be the company you can still call, and still trust, in 30 years.

Our Mission

We’re here to raise the standard — not just take the sale.

Stellar Upgrades is an Edmonton-based solar, battery, and EV charger installation company serving all of Alberta within ~200 km — 550+ installs since 2018, BBB A+ accredited, $5 million insured, with every electrical permit pulled under our own in-house Red Seal Master Electrician’s certificate and an in-house crew led on site by Red Seal journeyman Matthew Wesley. No subcontractors, ever.

Solar isn’t a product. It’s a 30-to-40-year decision that will outlast cars, careers, and most of the companies selling it. The system going on your roof today should still be earning for you in 2056. That only happens if the equipment is right, the install is done by certified electricians, the warranty is real, and the company that put it there is still around to answer the phone.

Founder & Owner

One name. One phone number. The same company in 30 years.

Stellar Upgrades is led by Pawanjeet (PJ) Singh — Founder. PJ built the way Stellar sells — our senior team walks every homeowner through the real numbers, and about one in ten hears that solar isn’t the right call for their home. No script. No call centre.

That’s the structure behind every quote: one accountable owner at the top, a four-role chain of accountability below — you’ll meet the people in a moment — and an Alberta-incorporated business standing behind the warranty in writing. Same crew on day one, same crew on day 9,000.

The Chain of Accountability

Sells it. Signs it. Builds it. Seals it.

Most Alberta solar quotes pass through a canvassing firm, a lead broker, and whichever subcontractor crew has capacity that week. Here are the people you’ll meet on a Stellar install in Edmonton — all on Stellar’s payroll — working under the certificate of our own in-house Master Electrician, who signs off every design and every permit before a panel goes up.

Sewak

Outside Sales Manager

The person who meets you at your home — walks the roof, checks your electrical panel, reads your last year of power bills, and gives you a straight answer about whether solar makes sense. One point of contact from first call to install day. No handoff to a “closer.”

About one in ten homeowners hears “don’t do it.” That’s the quota that matters here.

Matthew Wesley, Red Seal journeyman electrician and Installation Lead at Stellar Upgrades, Edmonton02 · Builds it

Matthew Wesley

Installation Lead · Red Seal Journeyman Electrician

On the tools since 2012, Red Seal certified since 2015. For the last five years Matt has led Stellar’s install crew across every kind of project we do — rooftop, ground mount, farm buildings, battery backup, EV chargers. His standard: the finished install should exceed what you expected.

Five years of installs under his lead — and a 5.0-star record with zero negative reviews to show for it.

Dario Nazarit, certified roofer and Roofing Lead at Stellar Upgrades, on a rooftop solar installation in Alberta03 · Seals it

Dario Nazarit

Roofing Lead · Certified Roofer, 10 Years

A certified roofer with 10 years on Alberta roofs — and the answer to the most common question in solar: “what about the holes in my roof?” Every mount, flashing, and penetration passes through Dario’s hands, sealed to last the life of the roof and backed in writing by our installation and leak-proof warranties.

The crew member customers most often mention by name after an install.

A letter from PJ

Why we built Stellar — in our own words.

When you put solar on your home, you’re not buying a product. You’re making a 30-to-40-year decision. The system you install today will outlast cars, jobs, mortgages — and probably the company that sold it to you, unless that company was built differently.

Most of the solar industry in Alberta over the last few years has been organized around one motion: the sale. The fastest signature, the biggest commission, the next door knocked. We’ve watched too many homeowners sign with operations that disappeared inside a single winter, leaving permits unfiled, warranties orphaned, and roofs leaking with no one to call. That’s the industry we walked into. It’s the industry we refuse to be part of.

Stellar Upgrades exists because Alberta deserves a solar company organized around a different motion: the promise. If we don’t think solar will bring real, measurable financial change to your home, we tell you, and we walk away. We’re here to raise the bar — not just on what we install, but on what the whole industry expects of itself.

Our promise to every customer is simple. If solar won’t make your life better, we don’t recommend it. If we install it, we stand behind it — not through a call center, not through a “partner network,” through us. The same names. The same phone number. The same crew you met on day one.

That’s the work. That’s the promise.

Our Story

Built one install at a time, since 2018.

Stellar didn’t arrive overnight. It came from eight years of doing the work, then doing more of it, then refusing to grow in a way that would cost the trust we earned.

2018
Started as a sole proprietorship
The business starts in Edmonton as a sole proprietorship, with one principle that has never changed: every install designed and signed off under our own Master Electrician’s certificate, and every customer dealt with directly by the people doing the work. First residential solar install completed the same year. First Level 2 EV charger install. First crew member hired.
2019
100th install · first farm solar
100 residential systems crossed off in the first 18 months of operating. First rural farm install completed — the start of our ground-mount and acreage practice.
2022
Incorporated
Four years of installs proved the model. The business is formally incorporated — the legal entity that has stood behind every Stellar install since — because the next step in electrifying Alberta homes needed a company built to outlast its founders: a warranty backed by a corporation, a balance sheet that can carry growth, and the same Master Electrician and crew on every job.
January 2023
250th install completed
Cumulative residential install count crosses 250. Most of those systems are still being monitored today — ongoing data we use to refine system design for new customers.
2025
Rebrand to Stellar Upgrades
The established install business is rebranded under a new trade name: Stellar Upgrades. Same company. Same crew. Same Master Electrician of record on every roof.
July 2026
550th install completed
Cumulative install count reaches 550 residential and rural systems across Alberta. Same Master Electrician on every permit since the first install in 2018.

So thrilled with this company. Our system was installed over a year ago and it was the best decision we ever made. We used to pay $600 to $800 in bills, but now we pay nothing to the utility company.

Why local matters

National sales operation vs. local Alberta installer.

A lot of solar quotes in Alberta come from companies that don’t actually install. Sales is contracted out, leads are resold, the install is dispatched to whichever crew has bandwidth. The deep-dive lives in our 11 questions to ask any Alberta solar installer. Here’s the short version, line by line.

What you’re comparing
National sales-only operation
Stellar Upgrades
Who quotes you
A rep from a third-party canvassing firm or out-of-province lead-resale operation. Paid on commission. Often not an employee of the company that will install your system.
Whether you meet us at your door, on the phone, by email, or through a referral — the person quoting you is a Stellar employee on payroll at the same company that will install your system.
Who installs
A subcontractor crew assigned after you sign — whichever has open capacity that week.
Stellar in-house electricians and roofers, on payroll, supervised by our Red Seal Master Electrician. No subcontracting.
Master Electrician on permit
Found after the contract is signed — you may never meet them.
Our own in-house Red Seal Master Electrician is named on every electrical permit since 2018 — on Stellar’s payroll, not rented from another contractor.
Permit & utility paperwork
“We provide the forms, you submit them with EPCOR / Fortis.”
We file the municipal permit, the utility Micro-Generation application, and schedule the bi-directional meter swap. You sign one disclosure document.
When something goes wrong
Call center → ticket → eventual subcontractor callback. Multiple companies, multiple handoffs.
Direct phone to the same company that installed it. Often the same person who quoted it. One handoff: none.
If the company closes
Manufacturer warranties survive. Workmanship and labour warranties typically don’t.
Local Alberta company. Operating since 2018. $5 million general liability coverage. WCB clearance current. Available on request.
Will they still be here in 30 years?
Sales operations and franchise resellers turn over fast. The company that sold you in 2024 may not exist in 2034.
We’re building Stellar to be the company you can still call in 2056. Same Alberta entity. Same names. Same standard.
Our Standard

We want to be trusted the way you trust Costco.

You walk into Costco knowing if something is wrong, you can talk to a real person and get it sorted. No call center maze. No three-week ticket queue. No “sorry, that’s a different department.” The transaction is built around confidence, not friction.

That’s the standard we’re building Stellar Upgrades to meet. When you call us in year 1, year 5, or year 30, you reach the same company. Real people who can make decisions. Real accountability. Problems solved — not escalated, not deflected, not subcontracted.

Solar is too important a decision for anything less.

Same Alberta entity since 2018 Same Master Electrician on every permit Direct phone — not a call center In-house team — never subcontracted Read our written warranty →
What we install

Authorized dealers. Real warranties. Tier-1 manufacturers.

Every product we install is one we’d put on our own home. Each is backed by a Tier-1 manufacturer warranty — the kind that survives even if Stellar isn’t the one filing the claim. The deeper case for our equipment choices: microinverters vs string for Alberta roofs and Tesla Powerwall 3 vs EP Cube 2.0.

Racking: RT Mini 2 (roof-mount) and FastRX (ground-mount). Critter guards included on every install.

Red Seal Master Electrician

Stellar's electrical work is designed and signed off under our own in-house Red Seal Master Electrician — named on every electrical permit Stellar has pulled since 2018. Alberta’s Safety Codes Act requires a Master Electrician behind every electrical permit; ours is on Stellar’s payroll, not borrowed from another contractor, and permits are public records.

$5M Insurance Coverage

$5 million general liability insurance carried on every job. Certificate available on request before signing.

WCB Clearance — current

Workers’ Compensation Board of Alberta clearance certificate is current. Available by email on request before any work begins.

Licensed Electrical Contractor

Licensed Alberta electrical contracting business. Started 2018, incorporated 2022.

Authorized Equipment Dealers

Authorized dealer for LONGi Solar, APsystems, Canadian Solar / EP Cube, and Wallbox. Direct supply chain. Real manufacturer warranty registration on every install.

How it works

From first call to clean energy — typically 8 to 10 weeks.

Most of the timeline is permits and utility processing — not crew time on your roof. Here’s the honest, week-by-week version. We chase every approval so you don’t have to.

01
30–45 min

Free assessment

On-site or virtual. We look at your electrical panel, your roof’s condition and orientation, and your last year of power bills — then tell you straight whether solar makes sense.

02
You approve

Design & scope

We confirm the final system design and exact scope of work with you. Nothing moves until the numbers and the layout both make sense to you.

03
Plan set + stamp

Engineering

Paperwork signed, we build the electrical engineering plan set and get a structural engineer’s stamp — confirming your roof and trusses will carry the system for decades.

04
~1 week all-in

Permits filed

We pull the electrical permit and the development permit from your city or town. Engineering and permits together take about a week.

05
5–7 weeks

Utility interconnection

We file the micro-generation application with your utility — EPCOR, Fortis, ATCO or EQUS. The long pole of the whole timeline.

06
2 days – 1 week

Installation

Approval in hand, you pick the date. Our in-house crew installs in two days to a week, depending on system size.

07
7–10 days after

Final inspection

We coordinate the municipal electrical inspection within 7–10 days of finishing the install — and we’re on site for it.

08
Day 1 of 30 years

Power on

Inspection passed, your utility swaps in the bi-directional meter, and the system goes live. You’re generating.

Frequently Asked

Questions about the company.

Questions about pricing, equipment, and Alberta solar economics live on the relevant product and blog pages. These are about Stellar specifically.

How long has Stellar Upgrades been operating?
Stellar Upgrades has been installing solar in Alberta since 2018. The business started as a sole proprietorship that year, was formally incorporated in 2022, and rebranded under the trade name Stellar Upgrades in 2025. The same in-house Master Electrician has been on every permit, with the same in-house crew, since 2018.
Who actually installs my solar system?
Our in-house team of certified electricians and roofers, on Stellar’s payroll — led on site by Installation Lead Matthew Wesley, a Red Seal journeyman electrician, with roofing led by certified roofer Dario Nazarit, and signed off under the certificate of our in-house Red Seal Master Electrician. We do not subcontract residential installations. The crew on your roof is the same crew on every Stellar install.
What’s your insurance coverage?
$5 million general liability coverage on every job. Workers’ Compensation Board of Alberta clearance certificate is current and available by email on request before any work begins on your property.
Are you Better Business Bureau accredited?
Yes — Stellar Upgrades is a BBB A+ accredited business. Our profile is publicly available and independently maintained by the BBB at bbb.org.
What happens if I have a problem in 10 years?
You call the same number. You reach the same company. Stellar Upgrades is a local Alberta-incorporated business, fully insured, operating since 2018, with the same in-house Red Seal Master Electrician of record on every permit. Manufacturer equipment warranties (panels 25 years, microinverters 25 years, batteries 10 years) are registered in your name and survive regardless. Workmanship is on us, in writing.
Do you have a referral program?
Yes. We pay $100 per installed kilowatt of solar on commissioning to anyone who refers a homeowner who installs with Stellar — plus a flat $500 per battery backup and $100 per EV charger. On a 9 kW system that’s $900. You can take it as cash, apply it as a credit on your own next upgrade, or pass it forward as a discount on the new customer’s installed price.
Where is Stellar Upgrades located?
Our office and warehouse are at Unit 10, 6005 103A St NW, Edmonton, AB T6H 2J7 — south Edmonton, off 103A Street. Call (780) 200-5265, Monday–Friday 10 AM–8 PM or Saturday 10 AM–6 PM.
What areas does Stellar Upgrades serve?
Edmonton and everywhere within about 200 km: Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Leduc, Beaumont, Fort Saskatchewan, Red Deer, Camrose, Wetaskiwin, Athabasca and dozens more. Same crew, same pricing, no trip charges.
Why is your About page worth reading instead of just looking at reviews?
Reviews tell you who was happy in the moment. The About page tells you who’s going to be here when you need them in year 12. Both matter. We took the time to write this one because solar is a 30-year decision and most solar “About” pages aren’t.
