The homes we see most in Edmonton.
Edmonton is two cities on one grid. Inside the Henday it is 1950s to 1970s bungalows and split-levels with long, straight fascias — Westmount, Glenora, Allendale, Pleasantview, Ottewell, Beverly — and the infill two-storeys now going up between them. Outside it is the 2000s two-storey with a front-attached garage and two or three gables: Terwillegar, Windermere, Heritage Valley, Chappelle, Summerside, Tamarack, Laurel, Keswick. The two halves price very differently for the same footage, which is exactly why we quote from photos of your rooflines rather than a house width.
| Neighbourhood type | Examples | What it means for the price |
|---|---|---|
| Mature bungalows and split-levels | Westmount · Glenora · Crestwood · Allendale · Pleasantview · Ottewell · Beverly · Highlands · Bonnie Doon | Long, low, straight fascia on wood or vinyl, one or two peaks. Sits at the $28 end. Typical front 80–100 ft. |
| 2000s two-storeys | Terwillegar · Windermere · Heritage Valley · Chappelle · Summerside · Tamarack · Laurel · Keswick · Hamptons | Two or three gables over a front garage, second-storey eaves. Usually $29–$31. Typical front 110–130 ft. |
| Infill and estate homes | Strathcona · Glenora infills · Riverbend · Windermere estates | Parapets, stucco or stone, dormers, long runs to power. Priced individually when they fall past $32, and we say so first. |

117 ft of lit roofline × $28 to $32, plus the $500 controller, before travel and GST. Our crew works out of south Edmonton, so inside the city travel is the smallest line on the quote. Your exact number comes from three photos, free, and if your home falls outside the band we say so before we quote.
$28 to $32 a foot, installed.
Most Edmonton homes land between $28 and $32 per linear foot of lit roofline. That includes the Gemstone track and LEDs, installation by our own electricians, and both warranties. Add $500 for the controller that runs it from your phone, plus travel to your address and GST. Your exact number comes from your rooflines, which is why we ask for three photos.
- Peaks and corners. Every gable, dormer and return is a cut, a join and a run back to the track. A long, straight fascia sits at $28; a roofline with six peaks sits nearer $32.
- Height and pitch. Two‑storey eaves and steep roofs take longer and take more of the lift.
- Fascia material. Stone, stucco and metal cladding mount more slowly than wood or vinyl.
- The run to power. A short path to a sheltered outlet is simple; a long run around the house is not.
| 117 ft of roofline × $28 to $32 | $3,276 – $3,744 |
| Controller | $500 |
| Installed, before travel and GST | $3,776 – $4,244 |
Front and sides, about 150 ft: $4,700 – $5,300. A full wraparound, about 300 ft: $8,900 – $10,100, and a large wraparound sometimes needs a second controller.
A ballpark, not a quote. Your written price is free and comes from your photos.

Homes outside the typical band — three storeys, unusual access, very long runs — are quoted individually, and we say so before we quote. Four worked examples, how to measure your own roofline and the ten-year comparison with seasonal lights are in our Alberta permanent lighting cost guide.

An electrical contractor.
Not a seasonal crew.
Almost nothing that goes wrong with permanent lighting is a product failure. It is the mounting, the sealing of the penetrations, the alignment of the track along an uneven fascia, and the connection back to power. All of that is electrical work, and most permanent lighting in Alberta is sold by lighting retailers or seasonal holiday-light crews who subcontract exactly that part.
Stellar Upgrades is a licensed electrical contractor with its own crew, supervised by a Red Seal Master Electrician, working on Alberta homes since 2018. We are the people who would be in your panel for a solar array or an EV charger. We do not subcontract, and we are still here to answer the phone in year five.
